Women Rising Up!

Bob Dylan sang that the times they are a-changin’. He recorded that song in the early to mid-1960’s, and he was right. And he still is right. Today we’ll be talking about one aspect of this change. I’ve written some here about my trip to Israel and France back in May, and something that we talked about was masculinity and femininity, and where that is headed as humans evolve. And it’s headed to more balance. What does that look like in a nutshell? For the men, that means more listening and feeling. And for the women, that means stepping into their power and not playing small. This post is about the feminine side of that equation, because I’ve recently found myself helping quite a few female clients ditch the small versions of themselves that have been learned. Unlearn it and move on, stepping into the real you that’s been in there the whole time. And that real you is a badass.

I wrote a post last week called Insecure, Codependent Female? Not Anymore… The name says it all, which is one client’s fairly rapid transformation from weakness to strength. It’s pretty awesome. “I am no longer weak, insecure, and codependent. In fact, I never was! I can see that now, and I’m feeling it more and more. I sure thought I was, though, and for a pretty long time, too.” Those are my words, but it sums the whole thing up. It was written after this client’s third session, just seven weeks after her first session. And I was SO psyched during that session. And then I had a new client later that day, and it was a similar situation. And she’s kicking ass now. Then there was another the next day, and I realized she fit into this same very general category. She’s making awesome progress. And there’s another that’s in the same boat, and she’s kicking ass now. And another younger one blew me away recently with the beginning of her transformation. Then there’s a group of women I’ve been talking to weekly for a little while now, and many of them are kicking ass. And all of them are following that same pattern, stated above. “I am no longer weak, insecure, and codependent. In fact, I never was! I can see that now, and I’m feeling it more and more. I sure thought I was, though, and for a pretty long time, too.”

These women have been both relieved and amazed to hear from a professional that that’s just not what they are. Rather, that’s what they’ve learned they are. And now they’re coming from a place of strength, and it feels awesome. Very empowering. Some of them even learned this from abuse and trauma, and we’re clearing that out. The past does not define you. The wake of the boat does not drive the boat, even though it sure can look that way. But the boat has an engine. And you have an engine as well – your mind. We’re talking about your built-in wisdom/common sense, though, and not the chatterbox that nobody else even hears. Much ado about nothing.

So this post is two things. First, it’s a salute to the women that have grown tired of playing small and have done something about it. But more importantly, it’s an invitation to those that are ready to step up into their natural power. If I can help you unlearn codependence, weakness, or smallness, then let’s do it. The same strength that’s inside of any man or woman that you admire is inside of you, right now. We’re all the same on the inside; it’s just a matter of letting that same awesomeness come out to live and breathe and play. So it’s time for the ladies in the house to rise up! And it’s really cool to be able to be a part of it.

All anybody really wants is peace. The good news is that peace can be learned. I’m serious. This should be taught in middle school, but it’s not. So I’m teaching it now.
